A TALL TAIL ABOUT MAINE

Once upon a time, a traveler went about his task as asked by his Boss from above (you know - the Big Guy) of reporting on the state of the human race. He began his journey in a church on the west coast. While there he asked about the bright red payphone at the alter and was told that it was a direct line to God. The cost was $50 to make a call. He then traveled to Japan, where he encountered another payphone, but the cost was $25. Across Europe the price went up and down from $75 to $10.

Then he came to Maine, where he found the cost was only 5 cents to call! So he called the number and after much explanation, understood. "My dear, you realize you are in Heaven, and that it is a local call!"
